VINTAGE YEARS PROGRAMME
In 2019 Sligo Northside took on a new venture (the Vintage Years Programme).  Sligo Northside Community Partnership wanted to ensure local people were involved in both volunteering and participating in the programme. Sue Mahon (manager) consulted with local people and a need for services and programmes for older people was identified.

A small amount of HSE funding was secured for the programme through Sligo Leader Partnership and the programme commenced with a day trip to the Father Peyton Centre in Ballina in July.  Following on from this Sligo Northside have hosted two Afternoon teas with the group with approximately 28 participants in attendance on the days.  The event included a beautiful afternoon teas served on antique china and Music provided by the one and only Marty Probst.

In addition to this the Sligo Northside also worked with the Sligo Sport and Recreation partnership to provide gentle yoga for the group.  This has proved to be very popular with numbers ranging from 17 to 25 per session.  This is held on Friday mornings from 11am to 12noon.

We are holding a Christmas Dinner event with music for the Vintage group on Tuesday the 17th December and hope we can attract more local people from their vintage years to join the group.

The project has been a roaring success and this is thanks to the staff and volunteers who run the programme, the funders and the participants themselves.  If you want to hear more about the Vintage Year programme call Sue on 071 91-47097.

Community Foundation for Ireland - Grants for Mergers

In the face of current challenges facing the Irish Community and Voluntary sector, all organisations are looking at ways of working differently.
In certain, limited circumstances some organisations may see benefit in exploring working collaboratively or indeed merging with another organisation, or consortium of likeminded organisations.
The Community Foundation for Ireland has a small fund which might allow such organisations or consortiums to explore this. It is for the facilitation of early stage discussions and negotiations, and not the process of merging or collaboration in action.
Grants of a maximum of €8,000 will pay for associated costs such as hiring an external facilitator, room hire, travel costs etc

How to Apply
Interested bodies and/ or consortiums should email Helen Beatty hbeatty@foundation.ie in confidence to discuss the suitability of submitting an application to the fund.
Learn more here: http://www.communityfoundation.ie/grants/types-of-grants/grants-formergers
Deadline: fund has no set deadlines at present.
