Sligo Joint Policing Committee

The Joint Policing Committees (JPCs) have now ceased to operate and will be replaced by Local Community Safety Partnerships. These will build on the existing JPC model and will provide a forum for State agencies and local community representatives to work together to act on community concerns.

Each Partnership will develop and oversee a tailored and prioritised Local Community Safety Plan which will be informed by the community itself in conjunction with public services.

Membership of the Partnerships will be broader than that of the existing JPCs and will include residents, community representatives (including youth, new communities and voluntary sector representation), business and education sector representation, relevant public services including the HSE, Tusla, An Garda Síochána and local authorities as well as local councillors.

Sligo PPN are still awaiting further information on the formation and timelines of these committees and will be in touch with our member groups as soon as we know more.

There is currently an open call for anyone in the community interested in Chairing this Committee and you can find out more information here.

Sligo Strategic Policy Committees

With the 2024 Local Elections, so comes a brand new term for the SPCs. All current committees have formally been disbanded and new committees will be formed with a selection of the newly elected members chairing. Sligo PPN awaits direction from Sligo County Council with regard to the make up of the committees for the new term and the timelines for establishing and hosting the first meetings. An official call will go out to all PPN members once we are formally approached to begin this process.
