Sligo Local Community Safety Partnership

The Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) replaces the former Joint Policing Committee and brings a broader range of voices to the table when it comes to community safety in Sligo. Unlike its predecessor, the LCSP includes dedicated seats for community and voluntary sector representatives, nominated through the PPN.

The Sligo PPN nominates representatives to sit on this partnership, so that the community has a genuine voice in shaping Sligo’s Local Community Safety Plan and can track progress on the priorities that matter most locally.

I believe in the Leader “Bottom up” approach to supporting communities and I know my experience will further this philosophy.

Pippa Black

Pippa is a founding member of the Sigo DPO and the founder of the Sligo Autism Friendly Committee. Very often the actions and behaviour of our community may be misunderstood by the public or the Gardaí. Very often enforcement that rests with the Gardaí (such as keeping the pavement free from parked vehicles and other obstructions) impacts on the ability of our members to participate in the life of the broader community. We are also aware of the intersectional aspects of our community, which means we have members who are LGBTQIA+, Irish Travellers, migrants and/or members of ethnic minorities who face compounded exclusion and marginalisation. It is very important to Pippa, and to the Sligo DPO that the needs of these communities are centred when it comes to community safety.

Catriona Sinnott

Maugherow Community Alert Group is pleased to nominate Caitríona Sinnott, Community Alert Development Officer with Muintir na Tíre, to serve as a representative on the Community Safety Partnership. As our Community Alert Development Officer Caitríona is a member of our group. Through her work with Muintir na Tíre, a national organisation with over 40 years of experience in community safety and crime prevention, she aims to support and strengthen these groups, helping them become more active in improving crime prevention, care and safety initiatives in the area.

Caitríona represents and supports Community Alert groups across the county, connecting groups with An Garda Síochána and is committed to setting up initiatives to tackle crime prevention and rural isolation.
