The SuperValu TidyTowns Competition has been running since 1958 and is one of Ireland’s best-known community and environmental initiatives. It’s managed by the Department of Rural and Community Development along with the Gaeltacht and is proudly supported by SuperValu.
At the launch event in Ballincollig — the town crowned Ireland’s tidiest in 2024 — Minister Calleary expressed his enthusiasm for the 2025 competition. He highlighted how the contest has grown stronger over the past 67 years and continues to make a real difference in communities across the country.
Nearly 1,000 TidyTowns groups are active today, and last year alone, more than 900 groups took part. Over 30,000 volunteers pitched in throughout the year, putting in more than a million hours to help improve and brighten up their local areas.
Cormac McCarthy, who is a former chair of Ennis TidyTowns and a current SuperValu TidyTowns adjudicator, has developed a presentation with useful information and tips on how to complete a TidyTowns application form.
The closing date for this year’s SuperValu TidyTowns competition is Monday 12th May 2025.
The closing date for the Special awards is Monday 9th June 2025.
