On 7th February Sligo PPN Heritage Linkage Group hosted the event:

Promoting Sligo’s Heritage – An Information & Networking Opportunity

This event offered a report on the implementation of the County Sligo Heritage Plan during 2018, as well as highlighting the priorities for the year ahead and how local communities can become more involved in local heritage projects.

The event was launched by Cllr Seamus Kilgallon and featured presentations from our three PPN Heritage Reps as well as guest speakers including; Sharon Eastwood (Woodrow Sustainable Solutions ) on learning from the Sligo Community Biodiversity Project, Tamlyn McHugh (Fado Archaeology) talked about the Development of the Sligo Community Archaeology Project and Siobhan Ryan (Heritage Officer, Sligo County Council) gave an overview of Heritage Ireland 2030 – the new National Heritage Plan for Ireland and how local communities can have a voice on the future heritage priorities for Ireland and Sligo’s natural and built heritage.

There was a great crowd on the night, highlighting the importance that the people of Sligo place on the protection of their heritage, environment and biodiversity.
