SLIGO JOINT POLICING COMMITTEE

Sligo Joint Policing Committee provides a forum where the local authority and senior Garda Officers responsible for the
policing the county, with the participation of Oireachtas members and community/business interests, can consult,
discuss and make recommendations on matters affecting the policing of Sligo.

David Tuffy

David Tuffy

David Tuffy has served as a PPN Representative on the Joint Policing Committee for the past 3 years and wishes to continue in this position to have an input on matters affecting the policing of Sligo, in particular to represent the Tubbercurry/Ballymote Municipal District. David is also a member of the Sligo PPN Secretariat. Strongly proactive in community matters David is Chairman of Enniscrone & District Community Development CLG, promoting facilities, activities and events for the benefit of the local
community; and showcasing Enniscrone in the national Pride of Place competition & the BOFI Enterprising Town Awards. David is also a Board member of West Sligo Forum, and he was instrumental in the establishment and operation of the Enniscrone & District Community Alert Scheme. David’s volunteering achievements were duly recognisedmwhen he was awarded the Community Individual Award’ by Sligo County Council in 2017.

Michael has over 40 years involvement in local Community Activities including, Banada Abbey Hall Committee, Community Alert, Community Games, GAA fundraising, etc. Very passionate about care and protection of elderly. Co-ordinates local Monitored Alarm and Text Alert system. Working member of local Youth Disco and Bingo Committee. Encourages involvement of the younger
generation in all local community activities.

Vanessa has great experience working with community groups. She has a good working knowledge of the groups both locally and nationally.

Sheila Leydon

Sheila Leydon

Sheila Leydon has been involved with the Cartron Point/View Residents Association and has been Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator for many years. She has built up a valuable relationship with our Community Gardai. Sheila is mindful of the welfare of our older residents and in particular those living alone. She is approachable, confidential and vigilant of any signs or reports of antisocial behaviour. We have no hesitation in recommending Sheila to join this committee.

Gail McGibbon

Gail McGibbon

Gail McGibbon, CEO of Sligo Business Improvement District (BID), has worked at a senior level nationally and internationally. As the first Town Centre Manager in the Republic of Ireland, Gail has worked with business development units in towns and cities developing a cogent plan for a destination. Gail represents the ROI on the Association of Town and City Management, UK and
Ireland, Chairs the national network of towns and cities and is a Senior Assessor for the ATCM Purple Flag International Award for towns and cities in the Evening and Night-time Economy. Central to the award is a focus on people movement, safety and well being of residents and visitors in urban centres. The award comprises 5 layers of assessment. Gail is the project lead in Sligo for the
Border Town Network and Atlantic Economic Corridor Network with the Heritage Council of Ireland.
